Thong Swimsuits: Confidence is Key

On Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Austrian-born designer Rudi Gernreich invented thong swimsuits in the 1970s with the intent of showcasing a woman’s cheeky attitude, literally and figuratively.  After all, any thong swimsuit fully or partially exposes the butt cheeks for all the beach-goers to ogle at.

Although the Brazilians are probably the most bikini thong loving nation you will ever find, you can also wear one of your choice in many other locations where they are  (gladly) accepted.  The key is in wearing thong bikinis with confidence!

Begin your adventure in to excitement of thong bikinis by choosing the style that you will be most comfortable with.  You want to wear thong swimsuits, not let them wear you down with embarrassment.  To do this, you can choose from three styles:

The g-string is the skimpiest and the cheekiest of the lot, with just a fabric string on the back held up by the band around the hips.  Of course, your privates are covered by a teeny-weeny triangle of fabric, which makes it imperative to go for a Brazilian or full wax.  Pushing it even further are micro mini thongs and thong bikinis that are also a sheer swimsuit.  You have to decide how far you want to go with this and whether the location you plan to wear a more extreme bikini will allow such a design.

The classic thong provides for more coverage although still very little of it.  It has a thicker fabric strip and has a  triangular patch of fabric located at the base of the tailbone – a concession to a little modesty.

The tanga provides better coverage but not so much that it risks becoming a conventional bikini bottom.  It still partially exposes the butt cheeks.

If you are not confident about baring your cheeks for all to see, then a tanga will be your starting point.  To become really confident about wearing a g-string, you might want to perform buttocks exercises like squats, hip extensions and one-legged dead-lifts.

Here’s another critical point:  you must walk around in your thong swimsuit like you belong in it.  Work it, so to speak.  Put a little feminine walk into your steps, shake your butt, and act like it is the most natural thing in the world for YOU to be seen in a thong.  Wearing a thong bikini is all about an attitude.  Just wearing the thong expresses that attitude.  Be sure that the way you carry yourself reflects that attitude as well.  Be confident!  That’s how the Brazilians do it, so why can’t you?

When you have mastered the art of wearing a thong swimsuit, you can be sure you will stand out from among a sea of bikinis.
